Fancy seeing you here…I’m pretty sure most of you have forgotten who I am by now.  BUT!  Have no fear, (hopefully) your blog-happy friend Tina, is here!

Let me introduce you to Sam.  She’s funny, witty, gorgeous and all around, a pretty fantastic young lady.  We shot her session one VERY HOT and humid evening in August.  Sasha did a bang up job on her hair and makeup, and keeping her shine free for most of the session (thank you  for that!).

The 4 of us (Sam’s mom is a riot as well!), had a blast, and recently Sam (and myself) were featured over at the Seniorologie website!  How cool is that??  You can check it out here, and be sure to leave some love!!

I have been incredibly blessed this year with a so much support from old clients and new clients.  Did I take on too many clients??  Probably yes, but how can I tell you no??  How can I miss the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends?  How can I miss the opportunity to document your family playing, talking, hanging out and just being you?  I couldn’t.  That doesn’t mean I haven’t learned this year that saying, “no” is ok.  That if my turn around time is longer than expected or that my time with my family is hindered, we all get a little disappointed.

Thankfully, all of you have been INCREDIBLE and your feedback, including “You were worth the wait!” has filled my heart with happiness!  I can’t express how much your words of encouragement and understanding mean to me.  When I left my job in June, I had no clue what the future would hold for me (another reason I booked so many sessions…FEAR!), but nowhere in my wildest dreams could I have imagined this. THANK YOU! :)

As I finish winding down my edits (only 15 families and 7 seniors left), I know the end result will be worth it.  I  know that you all will have incredible images and memories to last a lifetime.  I know that my decision to leave my job was the best decision I could have ever made.  I’m excited to grow even more this year and include some workshops and teaching to the calendar.  I’m excited to meet even more new people and grow my friendships with my photographer friends.  I know that all the stress, hard work, tears, laughs, sore bums, bloodshot, twitching eyes and crooked back is so very WORTH IT!  I get live my dream job.

And that is awesome.

I’ll start with me (and tomorrow I’ll ask the girls and the hubs, and so on and so forth).

Today, on the first day of November, it is only fitting that I am most thankful for my husband!  Over the years we have been through so much together, most good, some bad, but all of it makes us who we are today.  Today, I am thankful that he supports me and pushes me to pursue my dreams.  I am thankful that he understands the late nights and stress out the eyeballs during this crazy time of year.  I am thankful that he explains to the girls why mommy is leaving for another shoot.  I am thankful that (for the most part) he partakes in my pictures when I shove a camera in his face :)

I am also thankful for his friendship.  The ability to burst into tears at a moments notice, laugh at the dumbest things and vent to him when I need a listening ear.  I am thankful that he has developed a palate for coffee and red wine ;-)  I am thankful that we have a wonderful life and 2 of the cutest little ladies EVER.

He is an amazing husband, father, son and friend.  I am thankful that 9 years ago today, I married this man.

He’s definitely a bit silly.  He thinks he can dance, but we all know that I have the moves in this get-up ;-)

Paul joined me in Philly during my recent mini-sessions…we had a blast!  We drove through Valley Forge Park, talked a LOT, had dinner with friends, shared cheesecake, acted goofy and just reconnected.  You need that every now and then :)

Sasha and I had a blast with Taylor!  We met her at her house early in the morning, around 7:30 am, and got started with her makeup and checking out her clothes.  We jumped in the car and headed about Taylor’s neighborhood in Chambersburg, and thankfully we started early, because it was a warm one out that day!  I love when we can jump in a car, see a cool spot, get out and take amazing pictures.  In all honesty, that is my favorite way to capture a senior :)

We’ve only been talking about this since, oh I don’t know…FEBRUARY!!

One cold evening while playing cards at B’s house, it came out that we both wanted to run.  The next week, in the coldest mornings of the year, we met up, bundled in gloves, hats, jackets, sweaters, 2 pairs of socks, sweats and anything else to keep us warm and got to it.  At first, we walked.  We talked about running, but we mostly talked and walked.

Then, we decided we would run to the light pole.  We did.  And then we walked and talked some more.

After about a week or so of that, we downloaded an app and started to run.  Thirty seconds of the HARDEST running ever!  I mean, really, when you have NEVER run before, 30 seconds is LONG!  Plus, it’s freezing outside, don’t forget that part!  You don’t want extra cold wind blowing on your face.  We sucked it up, even when it was below zero degrees.

The next week, J joined us.  Instantly, she was just more skilled in the running department.  She would jump the middle line, while B and I would secretly be giving her the evil eye.  She would run way ahead and then stand and wait for us.  *insert menacing glare here*  She was just better at running…she has “runner’s lungs”…I guess??  LOL

A week after joining us J set up the app on her phone and we started our early morning adventure of walking 90 seconds and running 30 seconds.  Except, this run went WAY LONGER than 30 seconds.  I mean, for real, will we ever walk again?!  (That’s how it felt anyway).  While J be-bopped on ahead, B and I were pretty sure something was not right.

Sure enough, J had accidentally set the app for a week ahead!  We made it, and we never looked back.

Our runs weren’t always perfect (in fact, I’m pretty sure I am YET to have a perfect run).  We endured injuries.  We’ve cried.  We’ve slept through morning runs.  We’ve grown.

We went from 3 friends who wanted to start running, to creating this friendship and bond that is pretty much indescribable.  Those early  mornings, when the sun was still down, and it was so cold, we would talk.  We would get mad at ourselves because we were tired, but the other’s would push us on.  We would laugh so hard we had to stop running.  We would make fun of each other and in return, knew that this friendship that was stronger than most.  We don’t talk about it.  There’s no need.  But we know it’s there…this “runner’s bond”.  We (now) know what other runner’s mean when they say that the bond you form with your runner’s group is a tough one.  You go through so much together.  You watch your bodies morph and grow into something you never knew it could do.

The time has come.  We’ve been training so long for this first half marathon and we are all an excited ball of energy!  This has been a (secret) goal/dream of mine for so long…and FINALLY it’s here!  I’ll be leaving later today to head up to Philly and tomorrow morning I’ll pick up my girls at the train station and it will be real.  We won’t be the fastest runners out there, but I can guarantee that no other trio will have as much fun as we will!  We’ve decided to do this together and together we will!  We will dance, laugh, and more likely than not (2 of us) will cry!

We’ll create more memories to add to our stockpile and honestly, I can’t wait to cross the finish line and wear my medal with 2 of the most amazing women I have come to know.

Jess, of course, was over the moon excited about their new little girl.  I thought it would be sweet to incorporate the local cupcake shop into their session, and later found out that Jess is a BAKER!  How perfect for her sweet maternity mini-session.

Sweet baby K has made her appearance, and she is just as adorable as her big brother.  Her blog post will come later, but I did add a couple of peeks for ya :)

I think we managed about 20 minutes before the wind picked up and we were just about blown away!  Luckily, both ladies were cool with meeting the next morning to finish up, and were even ok with me bringing my small peeps (the joys of working from home, sometimes my little ladies make an appearance at a session).

Maddy, it was so great to meet both you and your mom!  Thank you for making my kick-off to senior “season” such a great one!  Best of luck this year! xoxo

After we left Wilson College, we mozied around my neighborhood and found some amazing nooks and cranies to take some photos in :)  Who knew that bamboo was right in my “backyard” :)
